What made you want to earn your DDS?
Since I was young I knew I wanted to join a profession that helped others. My grandfather and father both are dentists, so I have been around it most of my life. This showed me how rewarding the profession could be. I also was pulled in by the combination of manual dexterity and mental work that the profession requires. You need to be able to figure out what the patient needs and then use hands-on skills to make it a reality for the patient.
What would you tell someone who is considering WVU School of Dentistry?
The school is unmatched when it comes to hands-on experiences with patients during your last 2 years. Many dentists that I have talked to specifically look for WVU graduates due to the experience and confidence that we have after graduating from WVU School of Dentistry.
What school related events or activities did you enjoy most and why?
Winning the WVU school intramural championships in basketball and flag football our third year as a dental class was very memorable. It was a great bonding experience for us as classmates and it was fun to see what we had against the rest of the school. It’s also nice to do extracurriculars like this to get your mind off dentistry for a while throughout the week and stay mentally healthy.
What are you excited for next?
I am excited to take all of the knowledge that I’ve put together in my 4 years at WVU School of Dentistry and build on it to give the best possible care to my patients. I am also excited for future continuing education courses to open up the possibility for implants and other dental procedures that are growing in popularity and are needed by so many for the best dental care available today.
