Dr. Frank Stevens Student Scholarship Endowment

The WVU School of Dentistry Alumni Association started this scholarship to honor Dr. Frank Stevens.

Dr. Stevens, affectionately known as "Doc", attended the WVU School of Dentistry from 1958 to 1962. He worked his way through dental school at a local radio station, and that's how broadcasting became his second love just behind his patients and their oral health. Upon graduation, he worked in private practice for 23 years. He also served in a number of capacities at the dental school for 19 years. While treating his own patients and educating future dentists, Doc also served as the public address announcer at WVU football and basketball games. His hobby made him an active supporter of Mountaineer athletics and The Pride of West Virginia, the Mountaineer Marching Band. Throughout his time of service to the school and the professor, Doc held the position of president of the Alumni Association and West Virginia Dental Association.

In 2004, the first Dr. Frank Stevens Student Scholarship was awarded to a dental school student. The scholarship fund and the support it receives allowed for the distribution of $68,610 over the first 15 years of the endowment. In that time, 45 students received individual scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,270.
