Well, well, well, as I begin writing the latest edition of Coach’s Alumni Corner, it is the evening when YOUR ALUMNI ASSOCIATION sponsors the FRESHMAN PICNIC. I thought I would include at least a few pictures of this wonderful event and showcase the alumni of the future. This is one of the very special programs that’s put on by the Alumni Association. Hopefully, over the next year, I will include all the functions and programs it sponsors.
I thought I would begin by showing pictures of the people that do all the work to make this momentous occasion a huge success. All five of them, Cathy Boyce, Marilyn Powley, Christina Phalen, Kim Ebert, and Martha Sturms, have done so many things for all of us that it would be impossible to thank them enough, but I will try by saying
THANK YOU CATHY, MARILYN, KIM, CHRISTINA, and MARTHA!
I almost hate saying this, but by the time you are reading this newsletter, MARTHA will have retired. She has given 39 years to our school and has in some way worked with 11 of the 13 deans since the school opened in 1957. No matter what I say about her it will be miniscule in comparison to what she has done for us all, but again,

As the students were arriving, two of our most illustrious board members, Drs. Valerie Perrine and Ashley Parker, were there to both greet and speak with the new leaders of the future. Dr. Perrine is the executive dean at the school and Dr. Parker is the vice-president of our Alumni Association, and maybe in 20 years, the pictures of the students below will be the new leaders at the School and Alumni Association.
I also thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce everyone to the current officers and members of the Board and encourage everyone to become more involved with our Association. As you have heard many times, it is the number one DENTAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION in the WORLD, but even #1 can get better with everyone’s help.
As I conclude this latest issue of Coach’s Alumni Corner, we are one week away from the first WVU football game, and one of the questions I get many, many times each year is WILL THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION be SPONSORING a TAILGATE THIS YEAR?????
Well, the answer is YES, and it will be in the Blue Parking Lot on October 10th against Arizona. All the details have not been worked out, but we will keep you informed as soon as the final arrangements have been made.
