The one-year oral surgery residency position is a non-accredited program that allows a participant to work a year in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic taking calls to get oriented with the program. Some participants use it as a precursor to determine if they are interested in the department's postdocotral residency position.
This opportunity is provided through the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. It is the only internship available in the School of Dentistry.
Oral surgery is one of the busiest clinics in the School of Dentistry. The state's only maxillofacial prosthodontist is a faculty member treating patients in Morgantown.
