RUSH (Rural Undergraduate Shadowing in Healthcare) Program Application Opens September 15, 2023

Are you an undergraduate student interested in a career in a healthcare profession serving in a rural community? Thinking about medical, dental or nursing school? The WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health RUSH program is a great introduction to practicing in rural communities.

Selections will be made by November 15, 2023.

Shadow a rural practitioner for a total of 20 hours during specific dates agreed upon by the participating practitioner and the student. Students will receive a participation award of $300 after shadow completion. If you have questions, please email icrh@hsc.wvu.edu

Third-year dental students present cases at national oral medicine conference

The curriculum at West Virginia University School of Dentistry includes an emphasis oral medicine through courses like oral microbiology and radiology, research, and principles of medicine. And over the past several years, students and faculty have had a presence at the AAOM’s annual conference invigorating their mission to promote overall wellness through dentistry.

Kiefer named director of faculty development for WVU Health Sciences

Christopher Kiefer, M.D., MSEd, has been appointed director of faculty development for WVU Health Sciences, effective July 1. He will assume the role following the retirement of Rashida Khakoo, M.D.
