Lauren Byrnside: Dental hygiene student chosen for 2023 homecoming court

Voting for homecoming royalty Oct. 17 and 18

Meet Lauren Byrnside. The dental hygiene senior is running for homecoming royalty 2023. 
Students can vote for Homecoming Royalty from their electronic devices on WVUEngage from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 17) and Wednesday (Oct. 18).

Below are some of her on and off campus contributions as a Mountaineer leader. 

Leadership Positions:

-WVU Beta Upsilon Chapter - Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority member

-WVU Student American Dental Hygienists' Association – President

-WVU School of Dentistry: Instrument and Materials committee member

-WVU Dental Hygiene Advocacy Day student elect

 Campus Activities:

-Kappa Kappa Gamma – Kappa Bouquet’s: selling flower bouquets to raise money for our national philanthropy, The National Eating Disorder Foundation

-Kappa Kappa Gamma – Hoop’s for Huggins – participating in a fundraiser to help support the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund

-Kappa Kappa Gamma – Car Wash – raise money to support the JED Foundation, which is to bring awareness to mental health and well-being, by helping support suicide awareness

Community Activities and Involvement

-Have participated in over 130 hours of community service

Included: Canned Food Drives for the local food donation drop-off boxes in the Morgantown area, Operation Christmas Child assembling boxes for the children of need in the Morgantown area, created homemade Thanksgiving and Christmas cards for the local nursing homes, helped with tabling at the WVU Boone County Alumni – WVU Scholarship Fundraiser Hog Roast to assist in helping students in Boone County, WV attend WVU. Also, collected donations for the Bartlett House community service project opportunity for the homeless population in our local areas. Additionally, teaching elementary students, at several elementary schools in Morgantown, oral health education through interactive activities and lessons.
