Class of 2024 - Sarah Spencer

Sarah Spencer1) Why did you choose WVU?

I chose WVU because not only did I graduate with my bachelor’s degree there, I love the atmosphere that WVU has and how close everyone becomes in the mountaineer family. In addition, I want to practice dentistry in West Virginia when I graduate.

2) What is your favorite activity?

My favorite activity would be gardening. If I could choose more, it would be reading and enjoying nature in any way.

3) What is your favorite TV program, movie, and who is your favorite music artist?

My favorite TV program is a tie between Bones and Supernatural. My favorite movie is Alice in Wonderland (Johnny Depp version) and for my favorite music artist, I would have to say Demi Lovato.

4) Who has been your greatest influence in your life, other than a family member, and why?

Other than my family, I would have to say my boyfriend and my roommates have been the greatest influences in my life. They have all pushed me to the best that I can be and have believed in my goals no matter how big they are.

5) If you could be anyone, other than yourself, who would that be and why?

I don’t necessarily want to be anyone else, but if I could go in the mind of someone else, it would be Albert Einstein. I would like to be inside his mind to experience the thought processes he had when he made all his scientific discoveries.

6) What are your biggest worries about coming to the WVU dental school this fall?

My biggest worry about going to dental school in the fall is the transition. Going from an undergraduate lifestyle to a graduate lifestyle will be very different and will take some time to get used to.

7) How do you deal with stress?

To deal with stress, I try to find the exact cause and then alleviate it. If I can’t directly fix it, then I will enjoy some self-care hobbies to refresh my mind before tackling the problem again.

8) If you could change the world, what would you do?

If I could change the world, I would start by creating a renewable resource that was clean for our environment. Then, I would try to change the work week for people to allow for more time to enjoy life.
