Roa Saleh1) Why did you choose WVU?

WVU holds a great DDS curriculum-including emphasis on serving underserved populations, networking opportunities, class size, and location. I believe WVU will invest in my education and help me become a competent provider in the near future.

2) What is your favorite activity?

I love the arts including photography and painting/sketching. I also enjoy various workouts and maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle.

TV program: Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown
Movie: The Hunger Games
Music Artist: Faouzia Ouihya

4) Who has been your greatest influence in your life, other than a family member, and why?

Other than family members, the greatest influencers in my life are my advisors/mentors who have mentored me since early college years. Why? Because they continue to support me, provide me with opportunities to help others, and continue to recognize my accomplishments.

5) If you could be anyone, other than yourself, who would that be and why?

No one, I like being myself; I enjoy witnessing the things I am capable of accomplishing in this life. I hope to use my knowledge and skills to make a difference one day and live a content life.

6) What are your biggest worries about coming to the WVU dental school this fall?

Hopefully, to be able to tackle the dental school curriculum, to find good housing in walking distance, and to be able to get a parking pass in the near future.

7) How do you deal with stress?

I think time management and planning ahead or accomplishing things on time is the key to reducing stress. It’s really important to do a little bit of everything and maintain a balance between studies and personal life. It’s also important to be patient and to not be afraid of acknowledging the source that’s causing stress onto your life and to really see how you could solve or resolve it.

8) If you could change the world, what would you do?

I would make people be more open-minded and kinder to one another. To treat other humans with respect and dignity. I would make sure that everyone has access to a chance to education and basic health care services regardless of their backgrounds.
