Class of 2024 - Laura Burrows

Laura Burrows1) Why did you choose WVU?

WVU is a great school in a great town, and it is practically in my back yard.

2) What is your favorite activity?

I love outdoor activities. I particularly enjoy whitewater rafting, skiing, snowboarding, and disc golf.

3) What is your favorite TV program, movie, and who is your favorite music artist?

TV program: NCIS

Movie: The Princess Bride

Music artist: Rodrigo y Gabriela

4) Who has been your greatest influence in your life, other than a family member, and why?

I do not know about the greatest influence, but the most recent great influence was my previous boss Tim Shomo. He is a genuinely good person. He is a kind, honest, and generous man that never makes a promise that he cannot keep.

5) If you could be anyone, other than yourself, who would that be and why?

I do not usually entertain this type of impossible question. I am quite happy with who I am. However, if I could be any kind of animal, I would be a cat. Cats are graceful, agile, intelligent, independent, and have amazing reflexes.

6) What are your biggest worries about coming to the WVU dental school this fall?

Balancing family and school. We are first time parents with a 5-month-old son.

7) How do you deal with stress?

I try to remind myself of the bigger picture to put things back in perspective. Then I analyze my problem and look for ways to resolve whatever is causing the stress.

8) If you could change the world, what would you do?

I would love to see everyone love each other. That would solve many of the world's problems.
