Carmella Polak, a behavioral health specialist at the WVU Carruth Center, will join the WVU Health Sciences BeWell team in July.
BeWell is a satellite office of the Carruth Center serving all Health Sciences students, including undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, on the Morgantown Campus.
Polak, who is a first-generation college graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Point Park University. During her time at Point Park, she discovered her passion for psychology which led her to earning a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Chatham University.
She primarily utilizes a person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy approach. She has a passion for working with the LGBTQIA+ community in addition to supporting students with anxiety, depression, identity establishment, mindfulness and self-care.
Polak will fill the role vacated by Seth Haxel.
