Degrees earned, titles received and research posted

West Virginia University School of Dentistry faculty members are able to show their commitment to dental education in a number of ways. Below are highlights of some of their accomplishments. 

Jonathan Abraham, DDS, FICD
Assistant Professor

Dr. Jonathan Abraham, assistant professor and 2004 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry, graduates this month with a Master of Science in Anatomical Sciences Education from University of Florida.

Michael Bagby, DDS, PhD, MS
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Dr. Michael Bagby, professor and author, has been named the permanent associate dean for the academic affairs department after serving as interim dean since January 2022. Click to read more about his position at WVU School of Dentistry.

Samuel Dorn, DDS, CAGS
Chair, Department of Endodontics

Dr. Samuel Dorn, past president of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations, attended the IFEA November meeting in Santiago, Chile.
In August 2023, Dorn will be installed as the president-elect of the Asian-Pacific Endodontic Confederation in Taipei, Taiwan. He is the first American to be elected to the post and will serve as president until the 2025 meeting in Bangladesh.

Lauren Godwin, DDS, MHA, FACD
Chair, Department of Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Lauren Godwin, assistant professor and department chair, is one of seven contributors to research published in November. In the paper, Utilizing an organizational development framework as a road map for creating a technology-driven agile curriculum in predoctoral dental education, authors discuss challenges and possible solutions for incorporating technology into the dental curriculum.
