MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In recognition of February as National Heart Month, WVU Healthcare experts will discuss the importance of keeping your ticker in tip-top shape and more on the next episode of “Doctors on Call,” which will air live at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 on West Virginia Public Television.

During live interviews, Dana King, M.D., from the Clark K. Sleeth Family Medicine Center, will talk about diabetes and heart health, and Basel Danan, D.D.S., periodontist at the WVU School of Dentistry, will talk about the relationship between gum disease and cardiovascular disease. In addition, David Watson, M.D., WVU Healthcare headache specialist, will appear live to discuss migraines, and Lawrence Tabone, M.D., director of WVU Healthcare Bariatrics, will talk about bariatric surgery options.

“DOC Talk,” the call-in portion of the show, will provide viewers with the opportunity to ask questions of three WVU Healthcare heart experts – Wissam Gharib, M.D., Robert Hull, M.D., and John Phillips, M.D.

The “It’s No Big Deal” segment will illustrate how to begin an exercise program. Viewers will learn how to perform hands-only CPR during the “DOC Demo” and get ideas for heart-healthy recipes during the “DOC in the Kitchen” segment.

WVU Healthcare physician Carl “Rolly” Sullivan, M.D., will host the show with Dr. Phillips. Two additional physicians – Kathy Moffett, M.D., and Joe Prudhomme, M.D. – will be featured in segments throughout the show.

Highlights will be tweeted live on Thursday evening (@DOCWVU). Viewers may also get updates, suggest topics, and provide feedback anytime on Facebook (www.facebook.com/DoctorsOnCallWVU).

Now in its 24th year, “Doctors On Call” transitioned from a weekly, half-hour-long, live call-in show to an hour-long magazine style show last year.
