Carolyn Long, West Virginia Institute of Technology campus president, and Clay Marsh, M.D., West Virginia University health sciences vice president and executive dean, have been named to The State Journal’s 2018 Who’s Who in West Virginia Business list.

For 25 years, The State Journal has celebrated the best and brightest business leaders around the Mountain State who work every day not just to grow their companies but also to improve their communities and the state. The 14 award winners this year were selected from diverse industries, and many have started their own businesses while others have spent decades working through the ranks of a company.

Long leads WVU Tech in Beckley. Before stepping into her current role, Long served as the first female chair of the WVU Board of Governors from 2008-2011. Under her leadership, the institution moved its more than 40 academic programs to the new campus while increasing enrollment to more than 1,600 students, marking the highest enrollment in nearly a decade. An educator at heart, Long has spent nearly 40 years as a teacher and administrator in West Virginia public schools.

Marsh leads the academic health sciences center of WVU – including five schools – dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy and public health – and numerous allied health programs and clinical operations around the state. A national leader in personalized medicine and in pulmonary and critical care medicine, Marsh has concentrated his efforts in determining how to help individuals stay healthy and how to create ecosystems to make this easy. Marsh is a two-time graduate of West Virginia University, earning an undergraduate degree in biology in 1981 and a medical degree in 1985.

The Who's Who In West Virginia Business awards luncheon was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Embassy Suites in Charleston.
