BOG approves $3 million in lab and research office construction at HSC

Two projects to be completed in 2017

The WVU Board of Governors has approved a $3 million investment in research space at the Health Sciences Center.

At their Dec. 16 meeting, the BOG approved the construction of an inhalation lab facility on the 4th floor of the Health Sciences building. The project will provide space for researchers to study the effects of toxic substances on lab animals under tightly controlled conditions. The new suite will meet Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care standards.

The BOG also approved a project to build out 10,000 square feet of shell space on the ground floor of the Erma Byrd Biomedical Research Facility into research offices and conference space. Both the HSC Research and Graduate Studies Office and the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute will relocate into this space.

Both projects are scheduled to be completed by Summer, 2017.
