Our Research
In the WVU School of Dentistry, we strive to discover solutions that reduce oral health disparities in West Virginia by advancing clinical, basic and translational research with a dynamic, evidence-based, interprofessional approach to wellness.
Overview
WVU is one of only 115 higher education institutions in the U.S. to receive the Carnegie R1 designation for the level of scientific activity and graduate education on campus, and one of only five flagship R1 land-grant community engaged universities. As part of the state’s only comprehensive academic health sciences center, we’re breaking down barriers and building multidisciplinary research teams to address important health problems and transform the lives of our citizens. Across five health schools – Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health – and numerous centers and institutes, our collective mission to improve health and well-being is woven through excellence in education, research, service and patient care.
