Banding and Bonding Appointment
It is official, you are getting your braces on today! When you return after having your separators in, we will fit and cement metal “bands” or “rings” on your molar teeth.
The rest of the teeth will have braces or “brackets” glued on their front surfaces.  A wire will then be placed that is attached to each bracket with a colored rubber “tie.”  This procedure will take approximately 1 to 2 hours.
We will also instruct you on how to brush and floss, and what foods you cannot eat.  (See NOW THAT I HAVE BRACES section for more information on this)
You may experience some discomfort for up to 2-3 days after you get your braces.   Tylenol or other over-the-counter pain relievers are adequate to control the discomfort.  DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED DOSAGES.
After the braces are placed, we usually see you once every 2-6 weeks. (Please see Appointment Intervals)
