New Publications:

“Publish or Perish” seems to be the focus of research, even Translational Research.  Our publications transcend the more established scientific journals and focus as much on literature which has a far reaching effect for the everyday practitioner.

Two Manuscripts accepted for publication by Medical Residents (ENT)

Oxley KS, Ramadan HH, and Thomas JG. 2007. Effect of ototopical medications on tympanostomy tube biofilms. The Laryngoscope, 2007 Aug 1st.

Cross JL, Ramadan HH, and Thomas JG.  2007. The impact of a cation channel blocker on Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA01) biofilm architecture. The Laryngoscope.

The Dental Tribune article published in December of 2006, “Dental Researcher: All Down Hill from Here,” this was followed by two articles in the Endodontic Tribune (January 2007, Vol. 2, No. 1) which focused on endodontic pathogens, there role in treatment failure and the lack of awareness by clinicians of potential significant future resistance.

The Science of Biofilm Dynamics in Oral Health a Paradigm Shift.Bridging the Gap Between Biofilm Research and Endodontic Practice”Endodontic Tribune (Feb.2007, Vol. 2, No. 1) —an interview.

The Journal of Practical Hygiene asked for a update on biofilms and treatment modalities relative to the practicing office staff.  This article focused on new approaches of therapeutic interventions based on greater understanding of biofilms. The Science of Biofilms Dynamics: The Impact on Intervention., Dental Tribune: March 2007

Advance for the Administrators, for which we are an Editor, focused on the changing structure of microbiology and administration, its cost driven assessment; its release coinciding with the annual American Society for Microbiology meetings in Toronto, Canada, May 25-29.

Diagnostic Microbiology and the Future: An Oxymoron.

Finally, in keeping with the more traditional scientific presentations:

We have a chapter in the CRC New Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Protocols edited by Richard Swable and Lynn Steele-Moore.  Our chapter entitled, "Antibiograms and Preventative Surveillance: Continuum of Data Collection, Analysis and Presentation,” co-authored with Nancy Rector (BD).

In a textbook edited by G. Manivannan entitled, “Biofilms: Disinfection and Decontamination.”

We provided the chapter entitled, “Consequences of Biofilms on Indwelling Medical Devices: Cost and Prevention”.  The chapter was co-authored by Lindsay Nakaishi and Linda Corum, both of our BRL.
