Clay, WV

Hello, I am John G. Hubbard and I graduatd from West Virginia Univeristy School of Dentistry in 2006. Dr. Russell Brooks Legg, Jr.  graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1975.

My office is located at 63 Carr Street, PO Box 568, Clay WV, 25043.  The office phone number is (304) 587-2359.  There are 6 operatories, a large lab, separate sterilization center.  The darkroom has a new processor.  The operatories are large and separate. All operatories are equipped for sit-down, four-handed dentistry.  Each operatory has its’ own extraoral x-ray unit. There are 3 new Marus chairs and units and 3 ADEC units with Dental-Ex chairs.  Relatively new x-ray processor capable of producing “endo” read films in 8 seconds. There is also a new Gandex panoramic x-ray unit.  There is a large employee lounge, large business office, satellite xm radio system with Bose sound enhancements. All new carpet, paint, tile, decorating.  There are 3 full-time dental hygienists and 3 full-time dental assistants.  There are 3 persons in the business office.  We do a lot of oral surgery and approximately 60% of our practice consists of children/adolescents. We are restoring more implants each year.  We work a 5 day week.   We can accommodate left-handed students.

The population of Clay County is approximately 9,500.  Clay has less than 1,000 residents.  There is limited shopping but fast food is available such as Subway and Gino’s.  There is a Rite Aid super center.  The local school system has been recognized both in-state and nationally for excellence in education.

My personal philosophy of practice is that we live and practice in a very poor, rural area of Appalachia.  Our practice is not based on “what fees can we charge” but “how can we help this patient achieve good oral health”.  We don’t permit the word “welfare” to be used in our office:  we treat everyone with respect and dignity. Once this concept is in place, everything else will “fall into formation”.  Our practice is staffed by caring, friendly people.  We have a good reputation in surrounding counties also.

****We don’t have smokers or tobacco users on our staff (no exceptions!!)

To reach our office, take I-79 South to Exit 40 (Big Otter).  Take Route 16 South (turn left off the exit ramp) to Ivydale (7 miles).  Bear right and stay on Rt 16 to Clay (10 or 11 miles), turn left at large Go-Mart (still on Rt 16), travel 1 ½ miles.  Carr Street is the first street on the right after leaving the Go-Mart.  Office is second building on the right (63 Carr Street).  The distance is 135 miles and driving time should be about 2 hours.
