Mark A. Spiker, DDS
Pennsboro, WV

Hello! I am Mark A. Spiker. I graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1978. After graduation, I served in the Army Dental Corps at Fort Rucker, AL for 2 years. I began my practice in Pennsboro in 1980. I have done Post Graduate studies in various fields including Oral Diagnosis & Pathology; Endodontics; Restorative Dentistry & Dental Materials FT; Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery FT and Removable Prosthodontics. These were short courses offered by the U.S. Army Dental Corp at Walter Reed Hospital and in San Antonio Texas. I am a retired officer in the U.S. Army Reserves Dental Corps holding a rank of Lt. Colonel. I have traveled to various countries with medical mission teams.

My office address is 304 Masonic Avenue, Pennsboro WV 26415 and my office phone number is (304) 659-2585. The fax number is (304) 659-2593 and my email address is spikerdds@ruralnet.org. My office is located in a medical center that has a 1 doctor medical facility. The dental and medical offices share a waiting room and other common areas. I have 4 operatories and a small lab. The operatories are designed for sit-down dentistry and has primarily Adec & Maris equipment. There is a front desk person, 1 assistant, 1 full-time and 1 hygienist. We work a 4 1/2 day week. We utilize Easy dental as our computer system. I am able to accommodate both right and left-handed students. We also utilize digital radiography and intra-oral cameras.

The Pennsboro community has 1,300 citizens and is located in Ritchie County. There are several churches, 3 banks, 3 restaurants, 1 grade school and the North Bend Rail Trail. It is a small town living with fishing, hunting, hiking, with easy access to Parkersburg and Clarksburg. This is a rural practice, and I grew up in the area. Everyone knows you and you see your patients on the street, in church and in community activities.

My personal practice philosophy is to educate the public to the importance of dental care and to provide the service to do so. We treat Medicaid, CHIPS, and Pre-employment and DDS patients. Many patients come for emergencies only. We also accept most dental insurances.

To reach my office, take I-79 South towards Clarksburg then RT 50 West toward Parkersburg. Halfway between Clarksburg & Parkersburg is Pennsboro. From Clarksburg, take Rt 74 exit (7-Eleven/Subway). From Parkersburg, take Racetrack exit. Follow old RT 50 into town. I am located in the Medical Center between the post office and West Union Bank, across from Roberto's Pizza. The distance from Morgantown is 75 miles and should take 1 hour 15 minutes driving time. We welcome students, and encourge visits to our office at any time to aquaint students with our office, staff and community.
