H. Darrell Milem, DDS
Hello, I am Dr. H. Darrell Milem. In our office, we "keep the front porch light on" down here in rural Barbour County. We have maintained a nostalgia of earlier decades of dentistry where the doctor-patient relationship is still a "family" type, personal relationship. We get cookies, jellies and meatloaves on a regular basis. I graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1975. From 1980-1983, I was in the United States Public Health Service, Indian Health Service at, Pine Ridge, South Dakota (Oglala Sioux Reservation) and Kincheloe, Michigan (Chippewa Native Americans of the U.P.).
Our office address is 305 N. Sturmer Street, Belington, WV 26250 and our office phone number is (304) 823-2100. We are located in a residential section of Belington in a nice "home" consisting of 2 buildings. There are 5 operatories, a central sterilization area, and a lab area. We are equipped for all sit-down, 4 handed dentistry. We also provide a staff kitchen and living room type setting. The decor is Southwestern with an emphasis on Native Americans. There are 2 hygienists, 2 dental staff and 2 office staff. We work an average of 4 days per week. We are able to accommodate both right and left-handed students.
Belington has a population of 1,200. It is a River Valley town with a civil war history. There are 2 corner stores, 2 gas stations, middle & elementary schools, city park and VFW park. There are numerous churches and 1 pharmacy. Belington is a typical rural town: slow and easy going with lots of personality.
Our personal practice philosophy is that we put the patient first and we turn no patient down due to socioeconomic limitations. I think the community looks to our office as the "main source" for dental care and they know quality and "friendly" dentistry is administered daily.
To reach our office, take I-79 South to the Stonewood/Alderson Broaddus College exit. Follow RT 20 through Quiet Dell and after approximately five miles, take RT 38 toward Philippi (avoid taking Buckhannon Road). Then in Philippi, go across the covered bridge and through town. You are now on RT 250. Take this approximately 12 miles into Belington. Take a right at the one and only RED LIGHT AND cross the bridge taking the first right off the bridge which is Dayton Blvd. Then make the first left and the next right onto Sturmer Street. We are the second and third house on the left. Park around the back of the buildings. From Morgantown, the distance is 64 miles and should take 1 hour 15 minutes driving time.
